audio within Smart Cutter play mode not always in sync

Post by mskala914 »

Hi, in searching I didn't see any problem like this listed.

Basically, only on MP4 files generated by my camera, 720p or 1080i, the video lags the audio
in the Smart Cutter window. It starts fine but gets progressively worse, like several seconds
over 2 minutes. If the file is played outside of Smart Cutter by media player classic it is fine.
Also the file when cut by Smart Cutter is cut properly. But I need the sound to be accurate to
correctly determine the places to cut.

I wonder if the cheap JVC sd camera I have is outputting audio with unusual parameters.
Any help would be appreciated. Mediainfo of one of the files from the camera follows.
Thanks,
Mark S.

Dear mskala914:
Thanks for your message.

'the video lags the audio in the Smart Cutter window. ... sound to be accurate to correctly determine the places to cut.'
Due to the frame accurate demand of H.264 video cut, we can not use DXVA playback in our product, so the video playback in Smart Cutter is not as strong as those popular video players, such as Mpc HC, Splash. Actually you could use the audio VU meter below the seek bar to help you determine the sound peak.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Thanks for the response. It seems that my best option may be to play the video with sound in a regular player, while turning off the sound in Smart Cutter, locating close to the same frames during pause to do the proper cuts. My main goal is avoiding re-encoding all the rest of the file, while hearing some things off
camera to cue where the cuts go (not critical down to exact frame).
