Saving to USB drive

Post by Pete3 »

Hi,

I've found that when I split a file into more than 4 segments and I have selected a destination folder (in the options window) that is not on the same drive as the source file, the transfer slows down after the 4th segment is reached. If left long enough the processing continues past the last segment and has to be stopped by pressing the exit button.

The splitting is initiated by clicking the red record button. However, if I enable the link button in the batch area (but still use the red button) the "save some file" window opens. I can select any drive and folder and everything works as expected.

Is this the expected behaviour?

Thanks

Dear Pete3:
Thanks for your message.

'the transfer slows down after the 4th segment is reached'
We tried several times but it did not happen.

Please help us to show and identify the problem.
1.What is the OS you are using? Is it Xp, Vista or Win7?
2.Does this happen on many video files or just on a specific video file?

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I'm using Windows 7 SP1 64Bit. The files are transport streams from UK satellite TV broadcasts, SD (MPEG2) and HD (h264) captured using DVBviewer. The problem was occurring with all files.

As you were not able to reproduce the effect I tried a few things and found that the Smart Cutter would work if the file name was shortened. As you will see below the full path lengths of the original files are less than the maximum allowed in Windows.

Smart Cutter is installed on C:, ts files on D: (internal drive) and USB drive M:

Input file D:\captured_video\12345678901234567890123456789012345.ts

Output files:

M:\TV\12345678901234567890123456789012345.ts.0.ts - Works
M:\TV2\12345678901234567890123456789012345.ts.0.ts - Works
C:\Users\Peter\Videos\12345678901234567890123456789012345.ts.0.ts - Does not work

Input file D:\captured_video\123456789012345678901234567890123456.ts

M:\TV\123456789012345678901234567890123456.ts.0.ts - Does not work
M:\TV2\123456789012345678901234567890123456.ts.0.ts - Does not work

I hope this helps.
