see upload to ftp server: evan_samett of video clip and screen save from smart cutter
I am getting used to my Hauppauge HDPVR 1212 and recorded a movie in HD. I record using their newest software.
I recorded a movie in HD using my comcast cable box (USA) in smart cutter the movie itself is distorted (magnified) but the cable box screen looks normal. After editing with smart cutter the movie plays normal with windows media player. I am having problems playing these .TS videos with VLC.

addendum: frame cutter crashes
I edited a few other videos similarly recorded. I found that i needed to trim some more from the front of two of them. Smart cutter would freeze if I scrubbed to the end of the first video as soon as I clicked on "new end point." The video was fine if I trimmed off of both sides. The other video freezes smart cutter when I try to open the file.
these are large files, around 3.5 gb each and so I won't upload them/

the edited HD files do not properly transcode with VLC and are unplayable.

I transcoded two .TS files to MP4 with Handbrake, which I edited with smart cutter. Smart cutter had problems with crashing with these files although they looked OK in the smart cutter preview window. some of the videos has a blank screen for the first seconds of the TV show. I had similar results using different edit points. I uploaded files to evan_samett on the FTP server.
Three video segments show:
a one minute edited clip (removing the video before ths start of the show)
a two minute clip showing including the video before the start of the show
a ten minute clip showing the first show segment before the first commercial break
An additional quirk: I have problems keeping the default output folder when I restart smart cutter.

We doulbe-checked the sample files, and found that all of them have video resolution shift between the 'blank' and the 'show' parts. We think that this is the reason of the problem.
We are considering about how to solve such kind of issues, it is a bit difficult and will take some more time to accomplish.
