1.4.5 freezes when opening mpeg2 SD recording

Hi,

I have an MPEG2 container SD recording here from last night's movie, 5 GB in size. Windows Media Player playes the file ok. Smart Cutter 1.4.5 shows some block artifacts and immediately becomes unresponsive (freezes completely). Win7 Professional, 64 bit.

Anything I could do to be able to cut the movie?

Could you please try it in older versions of SC?

Thanks for your kind message, albeit I doubt a bit that that's the case, as typically I only come here when I have issues with Smart Cutter.

If the problem still exists, please upload a sample of 100MB to our FTP server as before.

The good (or bad?) news is that the same error occurs with the older versions, and that even with the first 100 MB sample I get an error. Unfortunately(?), I get a real error message and not the unresponsiveness smart cutter shows when opening the entire file.

The error message comes from the MS Visual C++ Runtime Library and says:

Assertion failed!

Program: D:\Smart Cutter\smart.exe
File: facApi/facPreroll.c
Line: 55

Expression: 0

I'll upload the sample.

FYI, that's the exact same error message I got when running a "bad" version of my Hauppauge's HD-PVR driver. I don't know if that is the product you are using to capture you video file, but check my post here just in case:
