Transparent square during playback

Post by iHD »

Dear Sir,

I encountered some "Transparent square" of playback the smart cutter output file when using DxVA mode.
But there is no same problem if I playback the original file.
If I deactivate the DxVA mode. The problem will not happen.
Seem this problem occur using DxVA mode only.
Would you please help to investigate this problem?

The original file is uploaded to ftp server
File: /iHD/Sample_iHD_20101023.ts

Cutting point: 1:49:11:389 - 1:53:20:989
Player: MPC-HC v1.4.2667
Codec: CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)

Below cases were tested but got same results.
1. enable "Stream Fix"
2. enable "TME Mode"
3. tried version 1.24, 1.27, 1.29, 1.30

Dear iHD:
Thanks for your posting and the sample file.

We had it cut according to the cut points as you mentioned.
http://www.fame-ring.com/samples/iHD/iHD.cut.ts
We tried the cut video on several test computers and different systems(Xp, Vista, Win7), but we did not re-produce the problem. It was always playbacked correctly, with no 'transparent square'.

Player: MPC-HC v1.3.1249.0
Codec: CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD7)
We do not have PDVD8 codec installed. So we took PDVD7 instead. Maybe this is the case?

Any way, our developers managed to make some modifications that may be related to DXVA, you may please try this newly cut video on your MPC-HC + PDVD8
http://www.fame-ring.com/samples/iHD/iHD.cut.new.ts
and tell us the result.

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you very much.

Hi FrameRing Support Team,

Thanks for your quick reply.
I tired the file that you provided.
Unfortunately, the problem still occur.
I captured the screen for your reference and uploaded to ftp.

According to your information. I confirmed that there is no problem using PDVD7 codec
I provide more information to help you to re-produce the problem.

Display Card: ATI HD5570 with ATI Driver 10.10

Dear iHD:
Thanks for your information.

We spent some time trying to find PDVD8. But the most recent version is PDVD10. So we have PDVD10 installed then tested it with the iHD.cut.new.ts,

The result is still okay. Screenshot below

Display Card: ATI HD
OS: Vista
MPC-HC setting below

Could you please try the PDVD10 on your end? It is the most updated version now.
Since you have confirmed that there is no problem using PDVD7 codec, perhaps the problem only happens on PDVD8.

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you very much.

But there is no problem on the original file.
So I think there is a different of the smart cutter output.
I tired PDVD8 and 9, the problem still exist.

We did not re-produce it on our test machines yet. We tried many times, with various combinations of sofware + hardware configurations, we did not see it yet.

Next, our developers will try to change the inner parameters of the Smart Cutter, generating different video outputs. We may need you to test these outputs on your end.
Since there are many parameters, the developers will choose the most related ones. This may take time.
We will keep you posted about the progress.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.
