Crash with 1.6.0 in full screen

Post by Pope Innocent XIV »

Smart is crashing in Windows 7 when I'm in full screen mode.

I uploaded the video file to ftp. The file is of a football game. I'm not actually trying to cut this file; I'm analyzing the plays in the game which means I'm scanning back and forth a lot. The only way I know how to make the preview screen bigger is to go to fullscreen mode. (Is that even possible?)

I can scan through the file in fullscreen mode for a minute or two, but then it crashes. It's done this four or five times. It started in 1.4, so I upgraded to 1.6, but it still crashes.

The Win7 error dialog contains this debugging:

Problem signature:

It just crashed on me again, this time without even going into full screen. All the debugging info from the Windows crash dialog was the same.

Dear Pope Innocent XIV:
Thanks for your message and the sample file.
We tried it on different computers with different systems but did not re-produce the problem.

Please help us to show and identify the problem.
1.Could you please tell us the memory size of your computer?
2.Does this crash happen on your end with the sample you sent to us?
3.Does the crash happen on a specific file or on many files?
4.Could you please try it on other computers for a test?

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

1. This computer has 8 GB of RAM.
2. That sample file was a segment of the file that was crashing. After a few minutes I couldn't get the sample to crash. The file that caused the crash was about 380 MB (which in turn was a segment from a file originally 17 GB).
3. I just had it crash again with a different file.
4. The only other computers I have all run XP, and this is Win 7, but I'll try.

When I switch to fullscreen, Windows says
The color scheme has been changed.

The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to Windows 7 Basic.

Program: smart.exe
Publisher: <Unavailable>
Process identifier (PID): 6520

Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running.
In the meantime, is there any way to make the video preview bigger without switching to full screen?
