I would also like to know this; similar to the way avidemux works on Linux (but it doesn't work for me on h264 files, which is why I purchased smart cutter).

Smart Cutter is incredible! I've been using ffmpeg on Linux, and it's still *really* buggy with .MTS files from my Canon Vixia HF10. ffmpeg (or one of its libs?) is SO buggy with h264-encoded video from my 2 camcorders... UNLESS I completely re-encode the video stream (which is stupid because I lose...
