TRP is the file extension of H.264 AVCHD MPEG-2 TV recorded file, meaning HD Video Transport Stream.

TRP, or HD video transport stream, files contain multiple video and audio streams that appear as one video file. TRP video is commonly used for digital video broadcasting.

TRP files often contain H.264 video and AC3 audio data. They can be played with various video playback programs. But because a TRP file contains more than one video and audio stream, the file is unrecognizable by most video editors. Especially, when you want to trim the TRP, selecting Frame Accurate start time and end time will be very difficult in these editors.

For many times, most editors must convert TRP into other formats before further editing process. But we do not want re-converting, since that will degrade video quality and need too much time waiting during the re-encoding process.
